FROM THE PRINCIPAL
May is the month of new life: flowers, blooming trees, warmer weather and, of course, the Derby. It is also the month following our celebration of new life in the resurrection of Jesus. It is a new life made possible by Jesus, but it was Mary’s, “Yes” that brought Jesus into the world – literally new life!
Tomorrow, we will celebrate Mary with our May Crowing before school mass. This is a very special occasion as we recognize the importance of Mary’s role in our salvation – we teach our students that Mary was the first disciple of Christ; a model for all of us as she experienced the greatest sorrow through the loss of her only son, Jesus Christ, and, yet, understood the deepest love of God through it all. Please join us tomorrow at 8:15 as we crown Mary, watch our 2nd graders process into church in their First Holy Communion suits and dresses and celebrate the love that is found in the embrace of a mother, a specific mother, Mary. “Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us!”

ACE DAY
ACADEMIC CURRICULUM ENHANCEMENT (ACE) day is coming up on May 24, 2023. Volunteers are needed to help with monitoring session presenters, hall supervision, outside runners, etc. Please sign up at the link below!
What is ACE Day?
Together with their teachers, staff and administrators the Ascension students work hard throughout the school year to meet academic goals. To celebrate their accomplishments and further their academic experiences Ascension provides students with an end of the year day of academic curriculum enhancement known as ACE day. On this day students participate in special activities and presentations lead by members of the Ascension community and local organizations.
The Ace planning committee organizes sessions in various areas of interest such as a presentation from the planetarium, a visit from the police and fire departments, an introductory Karate class, yoga, arts and crafts, cooking, soccer, archery, magic tricks, science experiments, pet training and much, much more. Students are given the opportunity to sign up for sessions that interest them. They will spend the day moving from one activity to another. ACE day is an exciting day for students and a great way to end the school year.

BOX TOPS COLLECTION
Did you know that Ascension is a Box Tops school? During this challenging time, our teachers and students need more help than ever. No matter what school looks like, Box Tops for Education is a fast and easy way for you to help out from home.
HERE’S HOW IT WORKS: Buy participating products and use the Box Tops mobile app to scan your store receipt. The app identifies eligible products and automatically adds Box Tops to your school’s earnings online. Even if you’re shopping online or doing grocery pickup, you can still submit your e-receipts and earn Box Tops. Twice a year, our school gets a check!
The PTO uses money earned from Box Tops to fund our iPad program and other classroom needs for our students!
Here’s how YOU can help earn money for our school!
• DOWNLOAD the Box Tops app and select our school to support. This ensures that your Box Tops purchases count toward our school’s earnings.
• SHOP for Box Tops products and use the app to scan your receipt to add to our school’s earnings online.
• LOOK for any remaining Box Tops clips on packages. If you find some, clip them and send them to school!
• SPREAD THE WORD about Box Tops!
FUN TIP: You can also use the “Invite Friends” feature in the app to ask friends and family to help support our school!
Your earnings may seem small, but they really do add up. The more people that participate, the bigger the impact we can make. So let’s give our teachers the support they need and help give more kids the opportunity to dream. Little by little, we can help make a BIG difference.
