WELCOME TO ASCENSION!

Welcome to the Ascension Catholic Parish! We are glad you‘re here! We are a Roman Catholic parish focused on developing our community through worship, outreach, education, and fellowship guided by the teachings of Jesus Christ. There is a lot happening at Ascension and I invite you to take part. I am Father Adam Carrico, the Pastor of Ascension Parish, and while I may be new to Ascension, I can already tell that there is a lot to love. We rely on our Ascended Lord to guide our lives of discipleship, and what a journey it is.  If you have any questions at all about how to get involved, please don’t hesitate to ask. We look forward to walking with you!

Our Pastor

Born and raised in Pewee Valley to Larry and Susan Carrico, Fr. Adam is the oldest of four siblings. He attended Saint Aloysius grade school, where he first encountered Fr. John Dickman and Fr. Wally Dant. Over the years, these priestly examples helped to fuel his early vocational discernment. Fr. Dickman would visit the classrooms, often bringing candy to the students. Adam, and his classmates, would often be told to keep quiet as the class went around the rectory to get to the chapel for Mass. These memories led young Adam to believe that priests got to sleep in, say Mass (which is pretty cool), and then visit the school. He graduated from Saint Xavier High School in 2001 and the University of Louisville in 2006 with a Bachelor’s degree in history. Discernment of the priesthood became more intentional at this time. This discernment led to his entry at Saint Meinrad Seminary in 2008 as a seminarian for the Archdiocese of Louisville. He went on to graduate from Saint Meinrad with a Master’s Degree in Catholic Philosophical Studies in 2011 and a Master’s in Divinity in 2015. He was then ordained to the priesthood on December 19, 2015. First assigned as the Associate Pastor at Saint Gabriel’s; in 2016, he was consecutively made Associate Pastor at Saint Patrick’s and Saint Boniface. In 2019 Fr. Adam was assigned as Administrator of Ascension parish, where he was named pastor right before the pandemic of 2020. He is currently serving his fourth year as Ascension’s ninth pastor.
